I liked the friendship that she shares with her coven, the love story that develops with Michael and how the secrets unfold with each character.

This book was an easy read. Enjoyed the setting, the characters and the activities. This is the first in a series. Hope the next book is out now as stated. The power of 3 and 9 with cats and a great male. Jun 16, Helen Carroll rated it really liked it. So many characters to keep straight with the 9 in the coven. I enjoyed the book, but know if i read the second one, I will be more familiar with the characters and their special talents.

I'm looking forward to reading more and finding out what's in store for the other members of the coven. Jun 29, Melissa rated it really liked it. This was a fantastic, engaging read. Beautifully done. Imagine you are one of eight women who felt a call to travel to Savannah, GA and when you arrive you discover you are a witch…a witch who will work to prevent a demon from being called into the world. Shauni Miller is a biologist; she is the non-violent, peace loving, vegetarian daughter of hippies who has the ability to communicate with animals.
Shauni is the first of the witches to meet the challenge set before the group. She meets veterinarian Michael Black and finds him extremely attractive Imagine you are one of eight women who felt a call to travel to Savannah, GA and when you arrive you discover you are a witch…a witch who will work to prevent a demon from being called into the world. She meets veterinarian Michael Black and finds him extremely attractive but past experience has taught her sharing her ability to communication with animals only leads to heartache so she is reluctant to tell Michael not only about her ability but that she is a witch.
Michael has a secret of his own and he fears Shauni will be appalled when he tells her about it. How Shauni meets her witchy challenge and tells Michael the truth about herself made a great book.

The book is the first of The Savannah Covent series and I am looking forward to reading the others in the series. When I first began reading the book I was a little confused with all the characters that were introduced, but as I continued to read, they were sorted out fairly well - though here and there still had to rethink about who was who. I liked that the main focus of the book eventually revolved around only one of the witches, Shauni. I enjoyed reading about her relization of being a witch, facing what she was up against evil and working through it.

I am really looking forward to reading the next books in the series. Sep 21, Dorothyb rated it it was amazing. This was the book that started me on my love for Suza Kates and her Savannah Coven series. Shauni is the first witch to undergo her trial. She also meets Michael. Her books are full of adventure, love and the male love interest in this book is as strong as the main character, which I love. Aug 29, Stephanie Llewellyn rated it it was amazing.
Feb 12, Amy rated it it was amazing. I couldn't put it down and even though it was the middle of the night, I bought the next two! Great opening book for a series! Aug 26, Catherine rated it liked it Shelves: reviewed , magic , uf-pnr. This is my second win from First Reads.
Whisper of a Witch is a pretty refreshing read from the kind of paranormal romance books I usually pick up. Rather than starting off with a bunch of hunks swaggering about flexing their muscles and killing things which I do like, by the way , Suza begins by introducing a group of females. Reading about nine women coming together and forming a coven was enjoyable and some parts were quite humorous. I was glad they didn't spend too much time chanting spells o This is my second win from First Reads. I was glad they didn't spend too much time chanting spells or performing rituals as I would have found that rather annoying.
However, I do think they all adjusted a little too well to finding out they were witches and adapted too easily to putting their normal lives on hold and living in a house with people who were virtually strangers. I also thought Shauni and Michael's relationship was a bit too rushed and I would have preferred to have them know each other longer before she told him everything and they fell in love.
But I really enjoyed reading about the few times they went on dates because the settings were well described and the interaction between Shauni and Michael were quite sweet. The start was a little overwhelming because there were so many characters coming together, it took some time for me to get my head around who was who, and who had what powers. But as the story progressed I got to know and like the characters more, so this shouldn't be a problem with the rest of the series.
All in all, it was an enjoyable read and I would recommend it to those who like paranormal romance with strong female leads. And a big thanks to Suza for this generous giveaway and for taking the time to sign the book too! Jun 02, Gillian Murrell rated it it was ok.
I was expecting more from this book, what I was not expecting was fashion, furniture, lovely buildings and a sappy romance. Oh and don't forget to get a many pedi because all witches need one just so they feel good. The story was very short on any real story line which was so disappointing as there was a great deal that could have been put in here to make it interesting.
Witches are such fascinating creatures and there are so many directions you can take with building their characters why stick I was expecting more from this book, what I was not expecting was fashion, furniture, lovely buildings and a sappy romance. Witches are such fascinating creatures and there are so many directions you can take with building their characters why stick with the pathetic romance angle.

I read them quickly. I loved them. Obviously, this being the first in the series, there was a great deal of set up to be done, and I think it was well done.
At the beginning of the book, you are introduced to each witch and their seemingly matching cats being drawn away from their normal lives by an unknown source that they know they need to follow. I instantly loved each of the women and their individual personalities. It seemed impossible at first for such seemingly different people to get along so well, but it worked. Once they all got to the island and found out why they were there, they knew it was time to get down to business. This first book mainly focuses on Shauni and what role she plays, and the hot doc, Michael Black, she meets in the process.
Meeting this guy would make facing anything a whole lot easier, in my opinion! There is an instant attraction, and you can definitely feel it as a reader as well. While Shauni faces possibly the biggest challenge of her life, Dr. Black and her new friends are right there with her. I loved the growing relationships, and the passion you feel between Shauni and Michael. This Review is copyrighted. Feb 21, Tracy T. The reading voice was nice. But that is it. There are 9 witches in the coven, the main character Shauni can speak to animals and they can speak back, there is our hero, Dr.
I am not kidding. A very disappointing listen. I was a bit shocked too, most narrators try and give characters voice distinctions, not this one. As for the story, it was just okay, seemed a bit juvenile to me, if you took out the 2 sex scenes this could be YA book. There was not enough dialogue for me. The story line and plot had potential but just fell flat and boring. Sorry, Hollie Jackson, but you should either give your characters a voice or don't narrate.
Whisper of a Witch
I don't really even recommend the story to be honest. There are so many books out there that are so much better. Save your credit for something worth listening to.
